This is a super feminine Ben Zuckerman suit, dating from 1955, in a dark wool, perhaps navy or black. The jacket nips at the waist and has a lovely bow tie at the neck. There is a wonderful white blouse underneath which brightens the model's face.

This Ben Zuckerman suit, in navy blue wool, dates from the late 1950's to early 1960's. It is wonderfully tailored and would have been the perfect suit for a woman to wear on her daily tasks- shopping, charity events or work. It could be accessorised in many ways - change a brooch, hat or gloves and the suit takes on a new purpose.
It features superb gold buttons that really make the suit stand out.

From the Palm Beach Journal, January 1965- Ben Zuckerman, Dean of American Fashion, relaxes before he shows his Spring and Summer collection at Martha's, the high end boutique in Palm Beach.
Mr Zuckerman had some interesting observations on the state of fashion in 1965. 'I like some of the kooky clothes.' he said, 'They're cute on the girls they are designed for, but they're not for the ladies. I only make lady clothes.'
Zuckerman stated as well that he preferred to create for the 'tailored woman' rather than the 'soft romantic'. After 40 years in the business he was still attracting new customers, who often placed orders of over $60,000 a season. One store alone sold over half a million dollars each year of Ben Zuckerman dresses, suits and coats.

This is a mid 1960's Ben Zuckerman coat in navy wool, double breasted with gold buttons that lend a nautical air. This coat is quite youthful and reflects the younger fashions that dominated the mid to late 1960's. It is marvellously tailored and can actually be worn as a dress as well as a coat.
This coat was sold at Doop's, the now defunct department store in East Orange, NJ
