From Vogue, 1967-
'The fur trimmed suit- great here in pale pink wool with school girl collar and cuffs of bisque grey Persian lamb. Narrow jacket to the hipbone, with twinkling buttons, a dress inside with skirt fullness. By Ben Zuckerman, of Anglo wool, loomed in American. K.J.L. jewellery. '

This is a super feminine Ben Zuckerman coat dating from the early 1960's. It was worn by an aide to President Kennedy.
Ben Zuckerman was one of three designers suggested to Jacqueline Kennedy during her tenure as First Lady by Diana Vreeland. The others were Stella Sloat and Norman Norell, which shows the esteem that Zuckerman was held in. Ultimately she went with Oleg Cassini, however it has since come to light that Mr Cassini often made line-for-line copies of French designers such as Chanel and Givenchy so that Mrs Kennedy could have her French clothing while still being seen as patronising an American designer.

From October 1953- a bright red Ben Zuckerman suit.
'Red is the colour which is going to add excitement in the fall season. In a season when black is everywhere, the woman who wants to stand out is going to turn to red to express her own sense of drama. Red will be seen in suits, coats and after-dark dresses. The colour itself is so dramatic that designers will have to rely on cut and line for interest.
This suit, in ribbed wool, has a slightly fitted jacket, straight slim skirt and gold ball button closings.'

From 1952- 'Go togethers.'
'Highly textured (and often noisily patterned) coats and jackets are sold frankly as suits with solid colour dresses or skirts. Wool coats or stoles are teamed with evening dresses. Brilliant colours, so popular in this year's town suits or coats, added still another mistmatch note.
Ben Zuckerman offered an example of fashion's new doubling-up with a black hip-length coat over a two piece red wool jersey dress.'

This is a Ben Zuckerman coat in pale yellow corduroy. It is double breasted and has the typical Zuckerman 3/4 length sleeves. The buttons are diamante and add sparkle to what is normally a daytime material.
Not seen is the satin cocktail dress that matches this coat. It is pale yellow like the coat and is sleeveless with a deep scoop neck.

What a great Ben Zuckerman outfit! Made up of a tweed dress and fur trimmed coat, this is really Zuckerman at his finest.
The dress is simple design, knee length with 3/4 length sleeves. The outstanding piece is the cape, which adds drama to an otherwise rather plain outfit.

This is a mid 1950's Ben Zuckerman suit in blue and black checked wool. The suit is very feminine and pretty. It features a simple single breasted jacket with a leather belt to draw attention to a small waist. The skirt is pleated and full and falls to below the knee.
