This is a lovely 1950's Ben Zuckerman suit in black tweed, with a plain skirt and a long, double breasted jacket. The jacket is trimmed at the collar in fur, likely mink.
At this point in history, the suit ruled. Most women wore one on a daily basis, as it was suitable for shopping, town excursions, church, and work. This example would have been perfect for most daytime activities. A chiffon or silk blouse would be worn underneath and the suit would have been accessorised with a hat, gloves and appropriate jewellery.
