From 1957- a Ben Zuckerman suit, in a dark colour (likely black) with striking white buttons, and accessories in white including a white hat, gloves and blouse.
This photo was taken by Gordon Parks, the groundbreaking photographer who made his name working for Life Magazine. Born in 1912 in Kansas, Parks was African American, and he portrayed the racism in society with his pictures. Parks also became the first major black director with his 1969 film 'The Learning Tree', though he is probably best known for another film 'Shaft'. Parks died in 2006.

This is a great Ben Zuckerman suit in grey. The skirt, which is not seen, is a slight a-line. The jacket is really special- it falls to hip length. There is a scarf, made of fur, which can be tied or left to hang. This suit is made of a very heavy wool and would keep the wearer warm on cold days.

What a wonderful Ben Zuckerman coat! This coat is princess seamed, and has a half belt in the back. The skirt of the coat flares out in a very feminine way. The sleeves are 3/4 length and feature cuffs.

The most interesting thing about this coat is the material. I believe it is wool and it is woven in a way that makes it look like corduroy.

Harper's Bazaar 1951 has a great Ben Zuckerman ad by Bosc. The ad has a great coat in a dark shade, full skirted and with a collar that reminds me of a flower petal opening to the sun. The jacket is enhanced by a fur scarf and muff, perfect to keep the wearer warm as it appears to be snowing in the ad.

In the background you can see people hurrying about. I believe that this ad is meant to portray New York city on a cold winter day.

The jacket has great cuffs with a feature button. Another interesting feature is the curved hem, longer in the back than the front of the jacket.

The model has accessorized the suit with a fur scarf, which draws attention to her pretty face.

From 1959, a silk satin Ben Zuckerman coat, in the empire line. The coat has 3/4 length sleeves and a very feminine bow at the bustline. The skirt flares gently from beneath the bow.

This coat would have been perfect for a cocktail party.
