Costume to Cherish from Bonwit's Designer Salon

'Priceless look by master tailor Ben Zuckerman...the coat of claret coloured heavy grained silk from Italy, water repellant for weather watchers and lined with Frernch imported natural baum marten, the dress in turf brown jersey that blends with the fur lining. From our Designer Salon, it has, needless to say..... THE BONWIT TELLER TOUCH.

What a perfect ensemble- a silk dress in olive green and pink flowers with a green silk coat. The coat is lined in the same material as the dress- a definate Chanel touch as Coco Chanel would always line her suit jackets to match the blouse.

The coat is bell shaped, with a high waistline and a full skirt. This ensemble would be perfect for a cocktail party.

In the bottom picture you can see the outfit as advertised in Vogue, It's wonderful to see the ensemble in colour.

Suit News- The Limber Line $225.
'As you move, so moves the new suit. This spring's thinking, outlined here by Ben Zuckerman, calls for the merest suggestion of fit- and the most beautiful suggestion of figure inside. The lines are limber, pliant, eased especially in the soft wool crepe of our red, navy or black suit. With it's own flowered silk gilet and matching leather belt, in sizes 10 to 16.

This is a perfect Ben Zuckerman suit, in a tiny pinstripe brown. It probably dates from the early 1950's and has the typical full skirt and tiny waist. Most beautifully, it has a red taffeta lining, a secret for the wearer to enjoy.
