This is a Ben Zuckerman coat, in a heavy black wool. It is double breasted and fastens with black satin rosette buttons. The coat is decorated with a black satin collar.
The coat was sold at John Doyle Bishop, Seattle. John Doyle Bishop was an Irishman who lived in Seattle, and owned a luxury boutique from the late 1940's to the 1970's. Mr Bishop was a well know local character, who was famously arrested on St Patrick's Day, 1972 after painting a green stripe down Fifth Avenue in Seattle.

What a gorgeous jacket! It was probably part of a suit, but looks great on it's own. The jacket has a slightly nipped waist that flares slightly below the waist. It also features a half belt in the rear. The colour is a spectacular lipstick red.
