From 1954, a Ben Zuckerman suit in tweed. The suit is all straight lines, without a hint of the waist.
This photo was taken by Gleb Derujinksy. Born in Russia in 1925 to a prominent family (his father was a very highly regarded sculptor). Derujinsky rose to fame in the 1950's as a fashion photographer who took hundreds of pictures that appeared in magazines like Vogue and Harper's Bazaar. Sadly Derujinsky was killed in a car accident in 2011.

From Vogue, February 1961.
'Rose, focused to a new brightness, in a before-and-after six that's all smooth curves- played away from the body; to wear with a dash of brown- say café au lait for days in town, don't dress evenings. The belt begins at waist level and rises from there to into bodice territory, deep cape sleeves meet their end at the elbow. With peter pan collar, rounded shoulders, a puffed skirt. By Ben Zuckerman of a velour finished wool.'

From 1961- A Ben Zuckerman suit.
'America's master tailor, Ben Zuckerman, anticipates the Paris trend with his snugly tailored suits for fall. This slender green wool has curvy fitted jacket, tiny, tailored lapels.'
Also shown on the same page are two Chanel suits- indicating the high esteem that Ben Zuckerman was given.

This incredibly modern looking Ben Zuckerman coat actually dates from the mid 1960's. Made of substantial grey wool, it has a structured shape and is very youthful when compared to some other Zuckermans.
The coat opens on the right, and has buttons running from the shoulder to the hem on both sides of the coat. As usual, with Zuckermans, the tailoring is impeccable. What a great coat!Photos courtesy of Thriftwares.
