This is a fantastic ensemble by Ben Zuckerman, dating from the 1950's. It features a jacket and dresss in a pink brocade.

The jacket has a nipped-in waist with a slight peplum, mother-of-pearl buttons and a white mink fur collar. The dress is a fitted sheath.

Women would often wear 'cocktail suits' in the 1950's and 60's. These were suits in a more dressy material, such as the above brocade, silk or chiffon, often trimmed in fur. These suits could be worn to dinner, cocktails etc. Ben Zuckerman often featured a number of cocktail suits in his collections.

A Ben Zuckerman double breasted coat in white with three-quarter length (or bracelet) sleeves.

This coat is made with material from Anglo Fabrics, a Webster, Mass. based mill that specialized in worsted and woolen fabrics. Sadly Anglo Fabrics closed in 1998.

An ad from Lord and Taylor for a really lovely Ben Zuckerman suit. This suit has pockets in the jacket and skirt and has a top that matches the lining of the jacket- a very Chanel touch.

The suit is in salt-and-pepper tweed, and the top (and probably the hat) are silk surrah. This suit was on sale for $350.

My newest Ben Zuckerman- a 1960's 3 piece suit in a striking checkerboard pattern.

The suit jacket is boxy and features a half belt in the back and pockets which are accented by bands of fabric. The buttons are substantial, as is typical of Zuckerman.

The sleeveless top features faux pockets at the bust and a similar band of decorative fabric at the waist. The skirt also has pockets at the hips.
